ONE MORE HOMELESS VET - A PLEA for HELP!

Except for a car I am allowed to sleep in, I am homeless, and I use a relative's home address for mail...I am a 56 year old veteran, who happens to be female, with undiagnosed physical difficulties; I do not have health care Insurance.  I became homeless when the home I rented and occupied for 7 years with my then, under-aged children, was foreclosed upon and re-sold: seems the original homeowner from whom I rented, passed away.  My children and I had little to no means except $300.00 which we had to stretch for food and gas; after all, the car now became our home.

My parents are in senior care; one of which, is battling colon cancer.  I believed that if I could go back to school to re-invent, and or strengthen the skills of my youth, perhaps I could make something happen for myself and my family; I'm finding however, that - that's hard to do without a stable address and no means of paying for a formal education, or repaying student loans.  Getting hired seems impossible! Getting on a housing list in Prince Georges County is "IMPOSSIBLE, " but I hear the county has allocated a huge amount of taxpayer funds to a new development called "WOODMORE TOWNE CENTRE at GLENARDEN."

WOODMORE TOWN CENTER

Located in Landover, MD, between I-495 and Rt. 202, this project is a "town center" with 700,000 square feet of retail space, 1 million square feet of Class A office space, hotels, 900 single-family homes, including condominium and townhouses. Site will be anchored by Wegman’s Grocery Store. Groundbreaking is scheduled for June 2008. For more information on contracting opportunities, please contact:

This new development will be surrounded by 900 new single family homes, and townhomes that few can afford to buy, and even less could qualify for: No, there is no place for my family, or millions of families today like mine within this 'NEW' scheme of things, namely, this new development.  And, say there were a low-income, and or a subsidized project in the plan; then qualifying for the dwelling space would be such a treacherous ordeal, that at the end of the day, neediest families would still be left out in the cold, never mind that you are a legal United States citizen and a (HUMAN BEING) who should matter: certainly your family and mine matter! Someone, anyone...PLEASE point me towards a housing list that I can get on in Maryland, GET ME ON IT!  And, I don't dare approach the topic of 'housing list priorities.'

I’m not lazy, nor do I lack reasonable intelligence or basic skills; and, I am willing to work hard to become successful.  I do not have an income yet, but, I am desperately trying to establish income via the only means available to me at this point, and that through an online presence.

My thought is to put myself out there with hopes of a door opening relative to any of my skills and several abilities.  I refer you to my online presence (FYI),

so you can know my heart, hope, and expectations; again, I'm not totally ignorant or without talent, I never said I was...  I need only an opportunity and possibly a little assistance; need, perseverance, and drive will do the rest.

In all of my research/ searching, it seems I qualify for nothing; how is that? I've dubbed these, (our present society of agencies and officers) that is, "Place Holders." 'Place Holders' are people within social support agencies who hold support & help offices and positions that directly impact the very survival of a society, and actually do not offer, render, or surrender services, and resolutions to human-kind or need.  Such services, over the past eight years, have disappeared, or so it seems, and only a store-front and a name-plate without a face remain; all designed to shine and look good while doing absolutely NOTHING, and affecting 0 assistance or change!  However, and in all fairness let me say, that, 'special-needs' applicants would, and possibly should have preference on quote-unquote housing lists.  But I must be honest especially with myself, I emphatically believe that there should be a place for "ALL of US."  Generally, and more often than not, these agency offices site a host of reasons why help is not available to the general public at large, and therefore specialize on special needs individuals, who represent a lesser population, so costs incurred are less also.  Never mind women and children, families, and the homeless, whose numbers have risen astronomically relative to foreclosures and fraud against hardworking United States citizens by greedy Bankers, Insurers and CEO's, no one's fooled!

I need housing desperately, I am not strong enough to spend another winter in the back seat of a car, and yes...I've contacted every Shelter in Prince Georges County I believe, only to be turned down night, after night, after night and so on...for one reason or another: usually because of over crowding, and some other qualification technicality.

I constantly seek employment opportunities alongside the millions of presently unemployed and under - employed United States citizens, for whom jobs applicable to sustaining a society simply no longer exist, and are greatly depleted by the number of applicants for the same job.  Most of us are not chemical engineers or nuclear scientists; and, if we were all doctors, there would be very few patients.  Also, the condition of our economy today can not so-much-as sustain it's own, this is the first, and greatest breach of 'Homeland Security,' and that is, where a government has raped, stolen from, deliberately disenfranchised, discarded, and trampled underfoot its own people, NO ONE IS SECURE!

Like so many other citizens/ veterans, I never thought I would ever be in, or see this condition; it's a 'Sad State of Affairs!'

Well, this is my personal story, and I have to stick to it...

Thank you for listening,
